Projects

In today’s society where art is realized and utilized in many different forms and conditions, diversity of art has achieved a new level of importance and relevance. It is a good opportunity for artists to reach out to larger audiences and to offer a new cultural experience in the daily life of the public.  Graywall facilitates a broad range of creative projects either independently organized or collaborated with non-profit arts spaces, public institutions, and companies including exhibitions, performances and collaboration projects as well as artwork consulting and productions, management of corporate collection, among others.

   
         
     




 


Hermes Shanghai 2017
September 9 ~ December 10, Shanghai, China

Graywall curated a show window project for Hermes Maison Shanghai in fall 2017. Artist Osang Gwon reinterpreted “Essence of Object”, the theme of this year, into his artwork.

 

 

 

   
         
     



 


2016 Hammer Museum Boards_Art Tour Korea.
June 2~5, 2017, BEXCO, Busan, Korea

Hongchul Byun, the director of Graywall, worked as an art director of <Art Busan 2017>; the 6th edition of the fair. He organized special exhibition <Realism in Korea; and Today> introducing Minjung Art, and a satellite fair <Design ArtBusan> showing design products such as furniture and ceramics at F1963.

 

 

 

   
         
     



 


2016 Hammer Museum Boards_Art Tour Korea.

Graywall organized an art tour Korea for LA Hammer Museum Board members to show around the Korean contemporary art scenes and its traditional beauties, visiting museums, galleries, biennales and old palaces for a week.

 

 

 

   
         
     



 


SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016:
NERIRI KIRURU HARARA

Sep 1 ~ Nov 20, 2016, four branches of the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA)

Graywall took charge of public relations and marketing of the 9th SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 'NERIRI KIRURU HARARA'. Hosted by the city of Seoul, Media City Seoul has continually served as a stage for the historical evolution of new media art and positioned itself as one of the leading festivities garnering major attention both within and outside the country. Directed by artistic director and curator Beck Jee-sook, SeMA Biennale Mediacity Seoul 2016 is a recurring international survey of contemporary art, with a focus on media art and other art forms that pertain to the concept of media. It features more than 70 artworks by 61 artists and collectives invited from 24 different countries.

 

 

 

   
         
     




 


Hermes Sydney 2016

Table to Share, Bowl to Care

Graywall organized Table to Share, Bowl to Care, the first art project of the Wooran Foundation to contemplate contemporary value of our traditional food culture and craft. The six artists - Sojung Jun, Seokyeong Kang, Hun Chung Lee, Lee Young Soon, Thekyoung Min and Jinnie Seo –and the two collaborating masters - Lee Hyunbae and Gyu-yeoung Kim - participated in this exhibition. The stories of these artists whose work vary in craft, installation and video create a flow of a narrative as if a portion of a play on the stage, presenting their own perspectives on a food and their lives, in the exhibition space, which has used for a theater of the foundation, Project Seeya.

 

 

 

   
         
     



 


Banyan Tree Art Fair / Festival, BANYAF
October 22 ~ 25, 2015, Banyan Tree Club and Spa

In collaboration with Banyan Tree Club and Spa, Hongchul Byun, director of Graywall organized the first edition of BANYAF, a new concept art fair/ festival. As having leading 16 galleries and 4 alternative spaces/ non-profit organizations, BANYAF showcases a diverse range of cutting-edge artworks in hotel rooms as well as various programs, including children education programs, performances, and installations in swimming pools and cabanas, which were not in use during a fall season.

 

 

 

   
         
     

 


Three Korean Contemporary Sculptors
Collateral Event of Bazaar Art Jakarta 2015

Co-organized by: Graywall, Asosiasi Galeri Senirupa Indonesia (AGSI)
Supported by: Art Council Korea, Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Korean Cultural Center Indonesia

Conceived as a collateral event of Bazaar Art Jakarta 2015, Graywall organized the Three Korean Contemporary Sculptors at Pacific Place Mall, Jakarta, presenting three Korean contemporary sculptors.– Choi Jeong Hwa, Gwon Osang, and Lee Hunchung.

Along with this exhibition, Breakfast_Korean Art Talks was organized on August 28th in the purpose of introducing and discussing about Korean Contemporary Art with Indonesian Collectors, Indonesian Association of Art Galleries (AGSI), participating artists, Korean galleriests.

Jan. 30~31, 2015, Culture Station Seoul 284

One, the collaboration project between sculptor Xooang Choi and choreographer Na-ye Kim was held at Culture Station Seoul 284. Organized by Graywall, One is a performance project created from the combination of formative language of visual arts and experimental attempt of contemporary dance—it deals with conflict and contradiction, hope and beauty arising from people’s desire to become ‘one’.

 

 

 

   
         
     

 

Looking Out/Looking In, Art Stage Singapore 2015

Looking Out/ Looking In, a Special exhibition for the Art Stage Singapore 2015 was curated by Graywall. Organized as part of the overseas market development project of the Arts Council Korea, this exhibition, four emerging Korean artists--Suki Seokyeong Kang, Chae Won Kim, Jina Park and CHE Onejoon--were presented, representing the multifarious aspects of contemporary Korean art.

 

 

 

   
         
     

 

Red Clouds , 紅雲 2014

Jinnie Seo’s first European solo exhibition ‘Red Clouds will be held in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Amsterdam. (October 29 – November 16, 2014). The exhibition is organized in conjunction with the music theater performance, Words & Beyond II: Nan Sul Hun, in which Seo creates the stage space and the costumes. In the exhibition, Seo fuses unconventional contemporary materials with the sensibility of traditional aesthetics to create an atmospheric landscape and a space.

One 2014

One’ is a site-specific performance created by the collaboration between sculptor Xooang Choi and choreographer Na-ye Kim, employing their own artistic methods and imagination about human body. 
Inspired by Xooang Choi’s sculpture, ‘The One’, Na-ye Kim presents a new story of Choi’s figures in the language of dance and Choi takes the role of an object and costume designer.

A Tale of Two Sisters: Revisited

A Tale of Two Sisters: Revisited, a performance art project co-organized by Graywall and Na-ye Kim Movement Collective was held in the Amado Art Space. (May 9~ 10, 2014)
Inspired by the Korean traditional fairytale, A Tale of Two Sisters, this performance presented a new experiment of contemporary dance by sharing the same place with audience embracing given surroundings. 

 

 

 

 

   
         
     

 

SK 2013

“The New Mind,” a mobile exhibition in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of SUNNY, SK’s university students volunteer group (2013). Created in collaboration with Seo Seung-mo, the architect and Huh Min-jae, the graphic designer, and Graywall, This mobile pavilion toured ten universities in different cities in Korea for two months.

Samsung-Galaxy Note 2012

“GALAXY Note Creation Competition & Exhibition - Note is Art.” (2012) In collaboration with Jung Yeondoo, Graywall organized a public participation event - drawings created by participants with GALAXY Note were reenacted through the artist’s photography and both the originals and the artist’s interpretations were displayed in an exhibition.
